Vishwanath & Sons

3.5 / 5
Family DramaRomanceSports DramaRaaga would rewatch: No

Vishwanath & Sons is most enjoyable when it does not fight its own nature. Venky Atluri’s Tamil–Telugu bilingual is a full-hearted family drama built around Sanjay Vishwanath, a celebrated competitive shooter whose carefully controlled life is shaken by responsibility, romance and the needs of his child. The setup carries the broad ingredients of a commercial entertainer, but the film’s better moments come from its willingness to slow down around the people affected by Sanjay’s choices. It is not trying to be a hard-edged sports biography; the shooting backdrop gives the story shape, while the real focus is family.
