The review

No Tail to Tell takes a familiar piece of Korean folklore and gives it a bright modern-romcom twist. Kim Hye-yoon plays Eun-ho, a gumiho who grants wishes and has carefully kept her distance from the complications of being human. A twist of fate ties her life to Kang Si-yeol, a talented soccer player played by Lomon, and her controlled supernatural world becomes a much messier human love story.

The biggest reason to try this Korean fantasy drama is its cast. Kim Hye-yoon has excellent comic timing and knows how to make a strange premise feel emotionally legible. Lomon gives Si-yeol a good mix of vanity, warmth and youthful energy, so their bickering never becomes completely exhausting. The early episodes also have fun with the gumiho mythology, wishes and the contrast between a centuries-old fox spirit and the ordinary demands of contemporary life.

However, No Tail to Tell struggles to decide how silly or emotionally serious it wants to be. Some scenes lean into chaotic comedy while other moments ask the audience to invest in fate, sacrifice and vulnerability. That blend can work beautifully in the right K-drama, but here the transitions are not always smooth. The supporting threads also feel less developed than the central pairing, which makes the middle episodes lose some of their momentum.

For a spoiler-free No Tail to Tell review, this is a 2.5 out of 5 rather than a complete skip. It is colourful, harmless and occasionally very charming, but it does not fully use its folklore premise or its leads’ chemistry. If you want a serious fantasy thriller, look elsewhere. If you want a light Netflix K-drama to watch between heavier shows, it may still be the exact mood-lifter you need—just do not expect it to become an instant favourite.
